WHAT IS NEXT GENERATION:

Together with The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, we are in the early stages of developing a young leadership group. Through our observations and research we have identified a need to develop a strong connection with a younger community of volunteers, donors, and supporters who will serve to be the future leaders of the hospital.

As the Canadian demographics’ shift towards a 'greying' population, the need for a robust outreach, communication, educational, and fundraising platform targeted towards young people is of utmost importance. One of the major goals is to develop and build a strong volunteer base of young leaders within the GTA and work with high-schools and universities through outreach programs.

The committee plans to embark on a campaign targeting young people using social media and other relevant mediums. The message will focus on what young people can do to help in the fight to conquer cancer in our lifetime and what impact cancer may have on them now and in the future. Additionally, the committee will drive an education platform that will help young people learn more about cancer, the cancer treatment process, and connect with young patients and doctors who are active in the efforts to conquering cancer. And lastly, the committee plans to embark on fund-raising initiatives including an online campaign and special events.
