MICHELE'S STORYIt all started with an innocent looking mole on Michele's ankle in 2005. Three years later, Michele passed away at the very young age of 48 from melanoma skin cancer. We had been married for 28 1/2 years and she was my first girlfriend. Our children, Brandon and Aislin were 24 and 10 respectively at the time. Michele was a very warm and generous person, who had a great zest for life. She was always willing to help others and get involved.
Michele had very strong family values and instilled these values in our children, her greatest legacy. Family dinners with the entire clans, especially Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter were sacred, never to be missed. She was the glue that held the family together.
The family cottage, her final resting place, was her paradise. How she loved the cottage!
She was my best friend, a great wife, and a fantastic loving mother. We miss her terribly.
The last three years of her life were an emotional rollercoster. Cancer affects everyone involved. It changes your life forever - your friends, your family and your perspective on life!
I decided after Michele's passing, to try and make something positive out of our tragic loss. I wanted to make a difference. No one else should have to endure our journey. By founding the Michele Temple Melanoma Research Fund, I hope to make the Princess Margaret Hospital a leader in melanoma research, so that a cure can be found soon.
The fund was started in September 2008 aand has raised over $66,000 to date. All the funds raised are available to the melanoma research team.
By participating in this fundraising gala, you will join Michele's Team!
Thank you for keeping Michele's dream of finding a cure for melanoma ALIVE!
