Support Team Lorraine - Raising Money for Multiple Myeloma Research
On Sunday, May 6th we are participating in our 4th Run/Walk to Conquer Cancer to raise funds for Myeloma research at The Princess Margaret. Watch the video to find out why.
Lorraine was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma only days after giving
birth to her third daughter, Katarina. It was a devastating blow since this rare form of cancer is currently not curable.
Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow.
It is the second most common blood cancer after Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Each year, 2100 Canadians are newly diagnosed with this treatable, but
incurable, disease. The M-Moving Together Toward The Cure 5K Team
raises funds in support of a cure.
Thanks to a new experimental treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital
and a bone marrow transplant, Lorraine is in remission. She is a
determined fighter, but Lorraine needs all of our help. She is still
fighting Multiple Myeloma and we need to find a cure. Fast! We need to
acclerate the search for a cure, not just for Lorraine, her husband and
their three girls, but for all the other people living with the
incurrable Multiple Myeloma.
Team Lorraine will be holding a virtual event at High Park at the same time as the Toronto Marathon on May 6. If you join the team, simply set up a page here but do not register for the Toronto Marathon. Or goal is to raise $20,000 for Myleoma research, so help us out by asking for sponsors to support us.
