Early last year, my sister Trudy was diagnosed with both ovarian and uterine cancer at the age of 36. She was diagnosed early and has made a full recovery, thanks to the gynecological cancer team at Princess Margaret hospital. But not everyone is so lucky. With these types of cancers, there are frequently no symptoms until the later stages, which means that early detection is critical.

On October 18 (two days before Trudy's birthday), Trudy and I will be participating in "5K Your Way", a 5 km run as part of the Toronto Marathon. We both participated last year, and our goals for this year are to beat both our times and our fundraising totals from last year.
