Why I'm Helping to Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to everyone who donated to my fundraiser for melanoma immunotherapy research at the Princess Margaret hospital in Toronto.
Together, we've raised over $12 500 for melanoma research. AMAZING.
Back in 2001, when I was 19 years old, I would have never dreamed that my stage 1a melanoma would come back to haunt me as stage 4 melanoma 11 years later. That's what, a 4% chance? But it did, and I am facing and fighting and during my battle I am so humbled by the generosity and kindness of you all. For anyone still wishing to get in on the cause, donations are still being accepted.
However, we have also started selling TEAM NOMIES bracelets (in pink camo - see photo) to support melanoma research. The bracelets started as a way for my kona inspired teammates and friends to "honor" me as they crossed the finish line in Kona (as I could not be there in person...in fact, I was in isolation in the hospital!). The bracelets caught on so quickly and became so popular that we ordered a bunch more to sell to friends/family etc as another way to raise money for melanoma research and keep strong and power on TEAM NOMIES!
With online donations and bracelet donations we are definitely over $13 000 and quickly heading towards $14 000!
GO TEAM NOMIES!
Thank you again for listening to my story and donating to an amazing cause.
