Support My Journey
Once again I am taking action and have joined the Advisory Planning Committee Board for the Journey to Conquer Cancer event. This will be my second year on the Board and the third year that I start up a team and participate in the actual 5km run. Getting involved and taking on a more active role in this event is just my little way of saying thanks and giving back to Princess Margaret Hospital in honour of my best friend/mom who lost the battle on February 6th, 2017.
This will be the sixth year that the event takes place and last year we managed to raise $1.5M with over 3,100 participants!! The money raised was spread across 68 different research areas, labs and support groups. That is one of the great things..…not only are you helping a great cause which has touched so many of us in one way or another but ALL proceeds raised go directly to the Princess Margaret Hospital and YOU get to CHOOSE where you would like your money to go - whether it be a specific type of cancer, a fund, a specific program, support for patients and family, research - the choice is completely yours!!
As always, the event will take place in the downcore core and this year it will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2018. We are hoping to surpass what we raised last year so that Princess Margaret Hospital (one of the top 5 comprehensive cancer research centres in the world) may continue developing innovative cancer therapies that are changing cancer care for patients not only in Canada but around the world!!
I would kindly ask that you show your support for a great cause by sponsoring my campaign as we are all running and walking to benefit our friends, family and colleagues who are currently fighting cancer or have lost a loved one due to cancer:
And everyone can support me - even if you already have - by sending out this request to all of your friends, family and coworkers or by posting the link above to any of your social media accounts. Think about it, 40% of Canadian women and 45% of men will develop cancer during their lifetime and over 1,500 people die each day due to this horrible disease. That is huge and we need to start helping out if we can as every little bit helps.
Thank you for your generosity and with your help, I am hoping we will be able to conquer cancer in our lifetime and help the individuals and families that are currently suffering.
