Every day 27 Canadians are diagnosed with a brain tumor. It is estimated that 55,000 Canadians are surviving with a brain tumor.
I am once again raising money for Head for a Cure, a 5K walk in June to support the Gerry and Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Last year I raised just over $6,000. I would be thrilled if you would help me do this again.
I have a personal reason for fundraising for this cause: I lost my husband, Chris Taylor, in April 1998 to a malignant brain tumor called glioblastoma multiforme.
The Pencer Centre's Patient and Advisory Committee, of which I have been a member since it was established in June 1998, allocates the funds collected each year from Head for a Cure to various projects to benefit patients and their caregivers. We are currently evaluating several exciting grant proposals from scientists within the University Health Network.
You can be confident that your generosity will have an impact on the lives of many people living with a brain tumor.
Thank you so much for your help.
